That woman holding his head is the amazing Japanese American activist Yuri Kochiyama, who was left out and excluded by Spike Lee in the movie “Malcolm X”, a political move on the behalf of Lee, but one that could have further provoked solidarity between Asian folk (specifically those of Japanese descent) and Black folk. There was a time when all of the causes/movements of “brown”/”people of color” intersected deeply—the 60s/70s were a powerful time in history.
